Rosires Deliza

Dr. Rosires Deliza is a Senior Scientist at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) since 1990, working on sensory evaluation and consumer science. From May 2009 - July 2011 she worked at Embrapa Labex Europe, based at Inra, UMR CSGA, Dijon-France as a senior researcher.

She was trained as a Food Engineer and has a Food Science M.Sc. degree both from the State University of Campinas – SP. She received her Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Reading, UK in 1996 and the experimental work was carried out at the Institute of Food Research, IFR - Reading. Her research interest is on consumer expectations of product performance and how these expectations influence attitude towards products, and non conventional technologies including their sensory properties.

She teaches Consumer Science course in the graduate level at the Food Technology Department of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, and Sensory Evaluation at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She has supervised several MSc and PhD students. During her research career, she has authored or co-authored over 100 original research papers, book chapters, review articles and technical publications.

She was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Society of Food Science and Technology from 2005-2008. She received the Scientist of Rio de Janeiro Award in 2007 and 2011, which is offered to the State Outstanding Scientists.
