Ceramics

The ceramic industry is one of the most important in Santa Catarina, dominated by so-called construction ceramics. The State is the second largest Brazilian exporter in the sector. The largest concentrations of ceramic tile companies are in the southern part of the State and in the Greater Florianópolis region.

Santa Catarina has an environment propitious to sectoral development, given the large industrial concentration and the large variety of suppliers of raw materials, services and products, giving the sector a cluster profile.

Opportunity:
Within a production chain that is nearly complete, capable of producing more than 3 thousand items and which serves individual consumers and large developments, two demands stand out that need to be met: that for automated equipment for factory processes, which are mostly imported, and for special metals, which are not available in Brazil. This is the case of zirconium, which is used in enamels, and dyes.
